One year Later

A year after the election, my words of November 2004 seem more valid than ever. Unfortunately, the Democrats just can’t seem to grow any “balls”. I don’t know if their corporate “owners” keep them in check or something more sinister, like blackmail, is at work. Whatever the reason, very little in the way of progress seems possible under the current system. Perhaps a Third Party of some kind could catch fire. The nation seems disillusioned and angry enough to gravitate that way, but it would require a massive popular movement and a lot of money to pull if off. On the other hand, Katrina and the unfolding corruption scandals seem to have re-animated the former zombie MSM, at least a bit.

Is there reason for hope?

Fair and Balanced News: The WSJ !?!

Who would believe that the conservative editors of the Wall Street Journal would offer some of the most balanced news coverage versus all of the other corporate Main Stream Media (MSM)?

I've seen it happen many times before in this paper, but it never ceases to amaze me. It's hard for a Liberal to accept that any MSM has editorial integrity. But it is often true of the Journal. Of course, Nixon went to China.

At any rate, the story that prompted this comment was printed in the October 18, 2005 edition, in which Rupert Murdock was referred to as a "dictator". The article clearly showed how he and his News Corporation Empire would dispense whatever propaganda requested, in return for profit. He was very blatant about it with the Chinese. They seem to respect him for it.

If you’ve ever wondered how and why the lie of Iraq was sold to the American People, this story explains it very well. Just exchange the name Ding Guabgen with Karl Rove and you have the whole picture.

Democrats and the New Reality

Clearly Democrats must change their mode of operation, but not by moving to the Right. Again and again it can be seen that the Public is impressed with apparent conviction and consistency. American's don't necessarily need to agree with you, but you'd better be firm, direct and expressive in your positions. Kerry didn't lose Conservative Christians because of Abortion or Gay Marriage; he lost them because they didn't see a strong candidate with strong convictions. Had he simply been blunt and firmly expressed an unwavering belief in secular government (and to Hell what they thought) they would have loved him and voted for him. A majority of Americans didn’t agree with Reagan’s policies, but they voted for him. Every indicator shows that most people disagree with Bush on many issues, but they voted for him. Why? Because he stubbornly holds his core message. They like him because he believes in himself. The Democrats need to move Left, be Liberal, be proud, clarify their message and NEVER back down. Then they will begin to win elections.
